Marika Hackman had a sensational 2019 with the release of her latest album Any Human Friend. An unashamedly sensual, sexual and sweary new record, don’t miss Marika perform live as she returns to her raw, evocative best.
Intrigue is at the heart of Marika Hackman’s music but there’s something gloriously attainable about her as an artist – her commitment to touring and meeting with a receptive audience who are searching for the very same antidotes to the challenges of modern life.
After releasing a series of critically-acclaimed singles and EPs, Hackman went on to record her highly anticipated debut album with producer Charlie Andrew (Alt-J, Eugene McGuinness). We Slept Last Night was released in February of 2015 through Dirty Hit and was a fantastic early success for the rising star.
Marika Hackman signed to iconic independent label Sub Pop to release her second album I’m Not Your Man. It contained the single Boyfriend which has wracked up half a million views on YouTube to date.
In the summer of 2019, Hackman released her third LP Any Human Friend which has proven to be her biggest hit yet – both commercially and with the critics – earning her the title “PJ Harvey for the inclusive generation”.
“She hones in on her emotional and sexual connections both to herself and others post-breakup. The truths Hackman discovers along the way, illuminated by songs both inventive and entrancing, are enough to make anyone want to be her human friend (or, at least, a rabid fan). With deadpan humour and rock star confidence, Hackman essays her own restive, messy desires” ***** Guardian

With her latest single ‘Slow Down’ gathering speed online and on the airwaves, including prime spots on Lauren Laverne, Nuala is set for a big year.
On her new material Nuala harvests all her experience to date, including a love of folk and a gift for timeless songwriting, into a sound that lies somewhere between her rural desert upbringing and her fearless pop contemporaries.
Driven by post-punk rawness, yet still letting fly with moments of audacious, operatic singing over the tumultuous drums, Honan wields her Telecaster and leads a killer band in a pop-drama, exploring the strength in vulnerability and connection.
