I’m proud of what we have achieved with our transformation of the Sub Rooms but we’ve still got more to do. With your help and support we really are in with a chance of securing this lovely building for the Stroud community long-term.
As we emerge from the horrors of the last two years we’re entering an exciting time here with a bigger selection of exciting artists, a more diverse range of shows and events, a better bar offering and a delicious Café menu. We hope we’re giving our visitors a really enjoyable experience.
We’ve already had some pretty memorable evenings with sold out shows... The Waterboys, KT Tunstall, Squeeze and The Shires; lots and lots of dancing with Trevor Nelson, Martin Kemp, Don Letts, David Rodigan, The Magic Numbers and others; a lot of laughing with Seann Walsh and Tiff Stevenson along with magic moments and great tunes from Fairport Convention, Graham Gouldman and Sam Lee. And we've learnt a thing or two at the brilliant Stroud Book Festival.
I’m very grateful to the terrific team here who combine to deliver all these shows & events – they’re an impressive bunch. Bev keeps the ship on course; Mia covers the creative, Anna makes the figures add up, James has transformed our box office and revolutionised our retail offering, Simon makes the building tick, Heather encourages our growing volunteer force, Jam & Jerry keep our technical humming and Stroud famous chef Laurence Kapoor keeps us laughing, grooving and beautifully fed. They’re all rather brilliant in their way and we’re lucky to have them. I also have to thank the magnificent Nadja, our fundraiser, and our steadfast supporter Helen from Stroud Town Council – without backing from these two remarkable women our doors would have closed a while ago.
We’re not on dry land yet but we think we’re getting close. Please, please come to see us (not just to go to the loo) to buy stuff in our shop, tickets to our shows, to eat our delicious food and to use this lovely community asset for meetings, gatherings, weddings and generally for memorable moments.
See you soon.
