April Coronavirus update

Firstly, and most importantly, we hope that this message finds you and those close to you well. These are difficult and uncertain times for us all.


We continue to monitor the development of the current Coronavirus situation and we have decided to extend the closure of The Subscription Rooms until at least the end of May and have cancelled or rescheduled all events during this time. All ticket holders will be contacted with their options.


The last month has reinforced how special live music and theatre is, and the important role that community spaces play in providing opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to socialise together.


Our team is working hard to support staff, musicians, performers, and our loyal customers. We would all like to say a huge thank you to all of you who have donated your refunds to us. As a charity, this generosity is vital for us to overcome the impact of this crisis.


We look forward to reopening the doors to our historic venue as soon as it is safe to do so.


What happens if I have bought a ticket for a show that has been affected?


We will be contacting all affected customers directly to give them an update about their individual bookings. Please bear with us as this may take some time.


We are working hard to reschedule as many events as possible – for full details of how we are managing this situation please see our FAQs below.


The status of events from June onwards will be reviewed on a daily basis and we will update customers as early as we can about any decisions that we make on these events.

Your questions answered


I need to contact the box office, how can I do that?


Our team will be on hand to answer your questions, please contact us via email in the first instance in order for us to support you [email protected]

Additionally, our box office telephone number – 01453 796880 – will operate as normal from 10am – 2pm, Monday to Friday.


Will I get a refund if the event I have tickets for has been cancelled or postponed?


We are working hard to reschedule all of the events that have been affected by our temporary closure and will notify ticket holders if this is possible.


If we are unable to reschedule the event then we will offer a number of options for you to consider.


What events will I receive an email about?


All events up to May 31st are cancelled or postponed. Events taking place from June 1st are currently scheduled to go ahead.


We will continue to work with our musicians and performers, and monitor government advice on an ongoing basis and update ticket holders if there are any more developments.


Is my booking fee refundable?


Booking fees are charged on transactions are non-refundable – these fees contribute to our box office staff and technology costs. The fees help us to cover our overheads so that we can continue to invest in the building and safeguarding the future of The Sub Rooms.
