Stroud: The Sitcom (Comedy Writing Course)

STROUD: THE SITCOM

comedy writing course

This course will take place in the Studio Rooms at The Sub Rooms

Classes:

7pm-9pm.

January 16th - February 27th 2024

(Reading March 5th 7.30pm)

Following a total sell out of the reading of the first episode of Stroud the Sitcom at the Subs last summer, a group of writers will once again gather to pen new episodes of the show!

Join the writing team, learn how to write sitcom, and work collaboratively on this comedy show set in Stroud and affectionately lampoon the town and its characters! The 2023 episode featured a range of familiar faces and took on many topical and burning Stroud issues.

For the new 2024 episode, we will again follow a writers room process where we collaborate on creating the characters and devising the story lines. Then individual writers, or pairs of writers, are tasked with writing specific scenes and dialogue.

At the end the course, the new episode of Stroud the Sitcom will once be presented to an audience in an uproarious rehearsed reading.

Here’s the 2023 group at the end of last year’s incredibly well received reading!

You can join the course purely as a writer, or as a writer/performer. Additional actors will be invited to join the reading to take on roles not covered by the group of writers.

Limited to 10 places so don't miss out on this unique opportunity!
