Fees
We charge a £1.50 booking fee per ticket. This enables you to book your ticket in advance of the event. However, the price you see advertised is the price you will pay inclusive of the booking fee, so rest assured there will be no nasty surprised when you get to the checkout.
Café Bar

Right now, the ‘pop up’ feel lets you know that there are exciting renovations and developments about to happen in the very near future – watch this space!

My First Visit
Welcome! Everyone is welcome at The Sub Rooms and if you are planning your first visit, we are here to make things as easy as possible for you.
Whether you are a seasoned arts attender, or just dipping your toe in for the first time, we hope we can encourage you to come back as often as possible.
If you have never been before, you might be wondering how things work at The Sub Rooms and; what to wear, and what to do when you get here. You’ll find some answers below, but if you have questions that we haven’t thought about, please call our Box Office staff on 01234 5678910.
Is The Sub Rooms just for adults?
No, absolutely not. We welcome everyone from crying babies, excited children, teenagers, working and non-working adults and older people.
Some events are suitable for only adults or children respectively. Please refer to the event information on our website for the recommended age for each event.

Do people come in groups or can I come on my own?
Many people come to our Café Bar on their own to enjoy a coffee and a cake and fifteen minutes peace with a good book.
Usually people attend events at The Sub Rooms in couples or small groups of 4 or 6 people but many people do also come on their own. Occasionally we welcome larger groups.
Can I just come? Do I need a ticket?
Yes, you can just come! The Café at Sub Rooms is open every day (Monday to Saturday) and there is usually something going on. Some events are free of charge, and you can just turn up, for example, there may be a musician playing acoustic music in the Café Bar.
Other events are ticketed. We do recommend that you book in advance for these events , to save disappointment, and to choose your preferred seats. However, there is often last-minute space available, so if you want to come and don’t have a ticket it is always worth popping down, and we will do our best to get you in if we can.
What should I wear?
There is no dress code at The Sub Rooms. Wear what you will.
When should I arrive?
The event information on the website tells you the start time of each event. We recommend you arrive at least fifteen minutes before hand. Please note: unless otherwise stated, last entry for late night events is 11pm.
However, we encourage you to arrive earlier if you can, to pre-order your interval drinks and treat yourself to a drink and snack before the show starts.
What do I do when I get here
As you climb the steps (or use the slope) to get to The Sub Rooms, you’ll enter through large doors. Ahead of you will be a large staircase that leads up to The Ball Room (the main event space). If you turn left, you will find our Box Office and Café area.
If you need to collect your tickets, please speak to our Box Office staff who will have your tickets ready for you.
If you already have your tickets, why not relax in our Café until the ushers (people who are there to help you) advise you to make your way into your event.
Will I need to give out my information?
The Sub Rooms is currently under new management, and we are very keen to encourage people to sign up to our mailing list to that we can keep you informed of our programme and encourage you to come back. Therefore, our staff may ask if you are willing to sign up. However, you do not have to, and if you do, you can change your mind at any point.
What do we do at the end
Once your event has finished, people leave the event space and filter back through The Sub Rooms as they make their way home. We are keen to encourage you to stay for a drink (or snack, depending on the time of the event) afterwards.
There may be ushers (people who volunteer at The Sub Rooms) who may ask you to complete a short survey after the event has finished. This is so that we can monitor the quality of the events we programme, and your experience while you were here. We would be grateful if you took part in the survey, but it is your choice.
