Front of House
Helping greet customers for our gigs and events, showing people to their seats, answering questions, scanning tickets, being familiar with the evacuation procedure, collecting glasses, assisting in other areas where needed and with putting chairs away or setting up for the next day after the event – FOH usually get away about 30 mins – 1 hr after an event finishes, depending on what needs doing. You won’t be on your own in the building – there is always a Duty Manager, and you have a radio to contact them if you need help (of course, mention that volunteering FOH you’ll generally get to see a lot of the show that you’re volunteering for – but this isn’t guaranteed)
Maintenance volunteer
Helping out to keep this old building going – there is always something that needs doing from painting, putting old posters up in our staircase so we can create a montage up the stairs of everyone who plays here, repairing things. Anyone can help and no special skills needed (though
welcomed). And you can come in on your own or with other members of the maintenance team to help out.
Marketing and Publicity
We need as much help as we can get to spread info about what is on far and wide – whether you can distribute our brochures and flyers around Stroud, at the Farmers market, take some to your local area to put in hairdressers, leisure centres, shops, pubs, or distribute more wisely to Gloucester, Cirencester, Dursley, Cheltenham, Bath and beyond – we’d love some more help.
Work Experience
We are keen to involve young people with our volunteering where we can and welcome requests for work experience. You do need to be over 16.
Other
Help in our café over our busy lunchtime periods would be welcomed and event help for weddings, parties, meetings and our Beer Festival is also very useful. If anyone with any specialist skills in marketing or fundraising, we need some occasional help in these area we would also be interested in hearing from anyone who may be interested in a longer placement e.g. with our tech team -to learn the ropes and volunteer photographers are very welcome.
