From The Jam
From the Jam was formed naturally in 2004 by Russell Hastings with 2/3 of the original line-up featuring Rick Buckler (The Jam) and Bruce Foxton (The Jam)
The band have toured extensively worldwide and even to this day playing to adoring fans worldwide including the original fans and of course younger ones being brought up on this music!
Russell and the guys are known for not trying to be like Paul Bruce and Rick but magically they sound identical and with as much passion as the guys produced in those five years from 77 through to 82.
“I just go up and sing the songs how I remember them being sung and I am many thousands of shows in now and I also had the good fortune of playing with Bruce and Rick for many years and then becoming my dearest friends so we ended up sharing the idiosyncrasies of the songs which I guess gives its authenticity. Who knows? It just works and people love singing those songs that mean so much to them! Russell Hastings 2024
Rick left the band in 2010 to pursue other projects leaving both Bruce Foxton and Russell Hastings to form forces with Mark Brzezicki from Big Country on drum duties. It was around this time that the first ‘Foxton and Hastings’ album was born ‘Back In The Room’ recorded at Paul Weller’s Black Barn Studios and also featuring Paul Weller on three or four songs including the hit single ‘Number Six’ with Paul on piano duties.
The band continued touring filling larger and larger venues worldwide across Japan America and Australia.
2015 bought about the second album ‘Smash The Clock’ again to rave reviews and featured more guests including Steve Cropper, Wilco Johnson, Paul Weller, Paul Jones to name a few. From this period on the band became even more popular and began playing the big festivals across the UK and touring once a year in Australia the band have been filling venues like the Brighton Centre, The Barrowlands Glasgow, Rock city Nottingham, and some of the largest
theatres in the UK has to offer.
Sadly Bruce suffered some health issues from around 2022 and decided it was wise to retire from touring and so did his last show in August 2025. Russell along with the rest of the band are continuing forward and spreading the joy and legacy of these wonderful songs and also playing tracks from the last three chart topping albums when they perform live.
“ Close your eyes it’s “The Jam” Alan McGee 2016
“ We ain’t getting anything closer than these boys to the sound and the stage energy is still up there where it always was!! ‘Gary Crowley’ radio and TV presenter and lifelong Jam fan.
“These songs sound just like when my brother used to play them with Bruce and Rick and I am the biggest critic!” Nicky Weller 2023
"The great thing about this band is that Russell doesn’t try to be Paul. He brings his own persona to the party and that just creates the magic that happens on stage. Richard Jobson ‘The Skids'
