8.00pm The Sub Rooms. £30.00

In a career that has taken him from the slate-mining towns of north-west Wales, down to the expat communities of Patagonia, up to the Mandan tribe of the Great Plains and across to the Tuareg rock groups of the Sahara, Gruff Rhys, one of Britain’s most beloved and successful singer-songwriters, has always been willing to follow an opportunity, wherever it may lead him. “At this point I quite like working with serendipity,” he says. Not in a cosmic way, but I try to leave things open to chance encounters and chance geography. As I’m around 25 albums in I’m always looking for ways to make a different sounding record.”  If that doesn’t qualify him as a NeoAncient we don’t know what does….

Graham Reynolds is a wildly eclectic American dance, theatre and film composer with credits including Richard Linklater’s Before Midnight.  For NeoAncients he sorties into solo territory with a live collaboration with English folk duo - and Friday Weird Walkers - Peter Talisman, described as an over-arching monolith from a dreamy road movie where Charles Mingus trades melodies with Floating Points.

Cerys Hafana is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who mangles, mutates, and transforms traditional music. She explores the creative possibilities and unique qualities of the triple harp, and is also interested in found sounds, archival materials and electronic processing. She comes from Machynlleth, Wales, where rivers and roads meet on the way to the sea.

Plus, aftershow Jarvis Cocker “pagan" DJ set.
