Kadiatu & Jeneba Kanneh-Mason

Jane Austen's Piano

For our Stroud Book Festival 2026 finale, we are thrilled to welcome author and activist, Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason and her pianist daughter, Jeneba Kanneh-Mason for a marvellous celebration in words and music of the life and writing of Jane Austen, 251 years on from her birth in December 1775.

Kadiatu will explore Austen’s musical world, reflecting on references to music in her works and the broader musical landscape of her time. Throughout the event, pianist and rising star recording artist Jeneba will play pieces from Jane Austen’s era, including music by Hadyn, Handel and Bach. All are taken from Jeneba’s recent EP, “Jane Austen’s Piano”, which was inspired by her love of Jane Austen’s novels and the soundtracks she imagines when she reads them.

Don’t miss what promises to be a glorious finale to our 10th anniversary Stroud Book Festival (2016-2026).
