Stroud Book Festival 2024 gets underway with a fantastic fund-raising quiz, hosted by BBC Radio Gloucestershire broadcasting legend – and now author – Mark Cummings. 

When Mark stepped down from the station’s Breakfast Show after 18 years, it wasn’t long before he found his next project, pouring his far-ranging knowledge of our home county into a new book – “Glorious Gloucestershire”. This brilliant book takes us on a whirlwind journey exploring the Gloucester streets that inspired the characters of Scrooge and Long John Silver; the countryside that gave us Gustav Holst’s finest work; the locations where the jet engine, the vacuum cleaner and instant custard were invented and much, much more.
