NeoAncients Poetry: Invocations

NeoAncients Poetry: Invocations

8.00pm. Rattle & Brash. £8.00

As dusk settles on the epic vistas of our barrows and burial mounds, hear the whispers of our ancestors rolling over the hills.  Poets Adam Horovitz and JLM Morton are joined by woodwind specialist Chris Cundy and electronic noisenik Sean Roe to present an immersive night of poetry, music and sound drawn from the history and mystery of our neolithic Cotswolds landscapes, its waterways and rivers - Churn, Avon, Frome, Severn, Thames; its ancient peoples and roadways; and the Genius loci of its goddesses - Cuda, Sulis Minerva and Rosmerta.

Chris Cundy is a composer and performer who specialises in bass clarinet and rarified woodwind instruments. Adam Horovitz is a local poet and performer who works regularly with musicians. JLM Morton is a writer and poet whose work explores contemporary rural experience.  Sean Roe (Sound Artist) is the more noisy half of electronica poetry double act Wooolheads and runs Klang Tone Records.

This event tales place at Rattle & Brash, 137a Summer Street, GL5 1PH.

RATTLE & BRASH

FINDING US

Rattle and Brash is located at 137a Summer Street, GL5 1PH, and is about 15 minutes on foot from the town centre.  After an easy seven minutes’ walk along Summer Street, you’ll see a red phone box on the right then soon after, at 137, an access lane on the left. Head down the lane, through the farm gate and come into the wood-clad studio on the left.

PARKING

There is no non-disabled on-site parking (if you require disabled parking, you will need to book this in advance via the email below).  If you are driving, please park on Summer Street.  Alternatively, you can park in one of the town centre car parks and walk up Parliament Street, past the Police Station and the Cotswold Playhouse, turn left onto Summer Street after The Cross Hands pub and then follow the directions above.

FACILITIES

Rattle and Brash is a work in progress and we’re sorry there isn’t an accessible toilet yet; just a portaloo.  The venue itself is nice and warm though and is accessible to wheelchairs.

You’ll be able to buy tea, (filter) coffee and croissants before the show.

If you have any questions about your visit, please contact Richard and Sarah directly at [email protected]
